Three little butterflies.
Yesterday after church we returned home and, as usual, there were butterflies making themselves at home in the front gardens. I managed to capture the above shots of these three different butterflies. The first is fairly common here, but I had no idea until I got closer just how beautiful they were underneath. While there are pleasant shades of black and blue on top, there are brilliant blues and oranges on the bottom side of the wings. He was also the most difficult to photograph as he would not be still! While the others land to feast on the pollen, this one hovers like a hummingbird, very rarely holding his wings still enough to be able to see. The second wasn’t quite as tricky to capture, but is far more rare. I hardly see this kind around. The third was so enthralled with the meal he found that he didn’t notice me. In fact, I even maneuvered the flower and positioned it to an angle where it was convenient for me! Each of these is a welcome sight after after weeks of seeing nothing but droves and droves of long-snout butterflies. Anyone in south Texas I think can attest to the fact that, no matter how many thousands of them you may find plastered to your grill, the clouds of butterflies do not relent.
Completely unrelated, today is the opening day of the second annual Christian Film Academy. Many have come from all around the country to hear a stellar lineup of speakers give worldview and technical instruction regarding the production of independent films. We have all sweat and bled to make this happen and we pray that the Lord would use it mightily in the lives of those in attendance. For play-by-play blog coverage of the Academy, visit The Rebelution.
Unrelated yet again, mom has continued to heal and continues also to regain mobility of her arm. She did begin last week to take the prescribed medicine for the post-treatment, however, it caused her to have some very dramatic and unpleasant side-effects. For now, she has discontinued the use of the medicine in hopes that she can at least feel normal during this busy week of academies and festivals. In fact, she may even choose to delay re-starting until after the Faith and Freedom tour, which we are at this point scheduled to go on. Thank you for praying for her.
